built & occupied by the George
Washington Grant Heagey family early in the past century. We enjoy
meeting his Grand & Great Grandchildren as well as other relatives &
hear the stories they tell of the family & home the restaurant
once was. The second story of the building remains intact to this day.
I am Tammy Keplinger Hughes, together with my
youngest son Ryan Hughes, we became the fourth owners of this fabulous
eatery since 1958. Our history with The Avenue Restaurant began in
the Spring of 1995 when my oldest son Brad Hughes, began working for
Frank and Jean Herring. Ryan joined his brother working at The Avenue
the Summer of 1997. Mark Cropp was the owner during this time and served
as a mentor to Ryan. When Mark decided to sell the restaurant Ryan and
I agreed to purchase it. With Ryan's years at The Avenue and knowledge
of the property, and my extensive background in Store Management, We
looked at ourselves as a matched set. Diane Kramer joined us as our
General Manager during our purchase of the restaurant bringing years
of retail knowledge in the perishables department with her and so
begins a new generation. Brad joined
the Military in 1998 and is currently still Serving Our Country. Brad
would say to me "Mom, We Are Happy To Be Here, Proud To Serve!"
which became our Motto. We at The Avenue Look forward to Serving You! |
